This one day course is the introductory level to Powerboating, which aims to provide a practical solution to boat handling and safety in powerboats. The perfect solution for anyone not too confident in their own abilities, or youngsters who may be too young (under 12) to undertake the level 2.
Please note that most (over 16yrs) tend to go straight to the RYA Level 2 course as course qualifies you to be able to apply for the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) on completion of the training.
The RYA Level 1 syllabus is split between classroom theory and water-based practical tuition, providing an overview of the following topics:
• Personal and boat preparation
• Launching and returning to shore
• Basic boat controls
• Theory of towing
• Local bye laws and insurance
• Crewing and routines
• Awareness of other water users
• Rule of the Road
• Basic close down procedures
You will also get plenty of hands-on driving as we tutor you through skills such as:
• Planing at speed
• Picking up a mooring
• Coming alongside
• ‘Rule of the Road’ - International Regulations for Prevention of Collisions at Sea (IRPCS)

Certification: RYA Level 1 certificate.
Course fee is inclusive of VAT, certification, use of safety equipment, boats and fuel. If you wanted to conduct the training in your own boat, providing she has the appropriate safety equipment, the cost (For a maximum of 3 people) is £450 all in.
