Training Objectives:

  • Able to operate powered craft effectively and safely in the commercial, military or public sectors 
  • Carry out job specific tasks as required by the organisation, e.g. Pacing, Boarding, Anti Piracy (NOTE: The RYA does not permit its schools to teach this training on any RYA course!) 
  • Can navigate the Inland and Coastal Waterways safely in accordance SOLAS, IRPCS, IALA and Inland Waterway governing bodies world-wide 
  • Can operate VHF and DSC Radios legally, effectively and competently

This 5 day Boat Handling Course package was specifically developed to provide a competency based training platform for an individual or organisation to build upon.  It demonstrates that personnel have been trained in accordance with a worldwide-recognised training lead body. On completion of this training candidates will be able to operate craft safely and effectively in varying sea conditions, whilst being fully aware of the safety implications and welfare of crew and passengers alike, for example, Whole body Vibration (WBV) and safety briefings; thus ensuring UK industry Best Practice is adopted at all times when afloat.

Boat Handling Course Aim:

To ensure individuals, groups, companies and military's worldwide are adequately trained in the use of powered craft and the associated safety equipment necessary to comply with the associated regulations and legislation on inland waterways and coastal waters.

The course can also be used to assess or bolster existing competence if current certification or experience is not appropriately verified or accredited.
